Occupational standards are developed by Sector
Skills Councils and other bodies with a responsibility for
occupational groups.
Occupational standards make sure that workers within a particular
occupation are 'fit for purpose' (that is, fit to do the job
they are employed to do).
These standards are generally developed nationally, in negotiation
with stakeholders, and they focus on the needs of employers
to deliver NHS services.
