The National Workforce Numbers Group (WoNuG)
has been a sub-group of the NWC which leads strategic workforce
planning for NHSScotland and has advised on future workforce
numbers required for NHSScotland.
This is done through the publication of an annual National
Workforce Plan (2005 Workforce Planning Framework published
Aug 05).
WoNuG meets quarterly and includes representatives from NHSScotland,
the Scottish Executive Health Department, academia, local
authorities, the royal colleges and staff representative groups.
WoNuG is also responsible for taking forward the development
of information systems needed to provide a robust and authoritative
evidence-base for making projections of future workforce requirements.
In delivering on this remit, WoNuG is overseeing actions
to deliver on the Workforce Information Strategy for NHSScotland.
